The UK's most common HGV, taught by people who know the roads
A Cat C HGV, or Class 2 rigid, is the most common heavy goods vehicle you'll see on UK roads — commonly used for multi-drop work in and around city centres and towns thanks to its size and carrying capacity.
If you're looking to upgrade your current licence to a Category C (Class 2) rigid HGV licence, Metcalfe's Driver Training provides a tailor-made course in Bradford, delivered by highly skilled and experienced instructors who have trained drivers across West Yorkshire for over 20 years. We regularly welcome learners travelling from Leeds, Shipley, Keighley and further afield across North Yorkshire and Lancashire.

What is Driver CPC?
The Driver CPC is a qualification that all professional lorry, bus and coach drivers must have to drive for a living. It was created to improve road safety and uphold high standards of driving, and must be maintained by completing 35 hours of training every five years.
How long does a Driver CPC last?
Your Driver CPC certificate is valid for five years. To keep it valid, you must complete 35 hours of periodic training within that period — your driver qualification card shows the deadline.

To become a fully qualified Class 2 HGV driver usually takes around 5–6 weeks, including theory and practical training. This can vary depending on how quickly your provisional entitlement comes back from the DVLA.
Where are you based, and do you cover Bradford?

What's the difference between Class 1 and Class 2 HGV licences?
Class 2 (Category C) covers rigid trucks up to 32 tonnes, commonly used for multi-drop and local delivery work. Class 1 (Category C+E) covers articulated lorries and trailer combinations, used for long-distance haulage. Many drivers start with Class 2 and progress to Class 1 training later in their career.
